Arrived at Sensoji Temple’s Kaminarimon Gate.
What? That paper lantern weighs about 700kg? We’re about 200g.
“In the center of the Kaminarimon, under the gate, hangs a giant red chōchin that is 4 meters tall, 3.4 meters in circumference and weighs 670 kilograms (1,480 lb). Being very fragile, the lantern is not an original piece. It is instead a restoration that was donated in August 2003 in commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the start of the Edo period by Konosuke Matsushita, the founder of the Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. (now known as Panasonic).”

さ、みんなもよくご存知。ここが雷門。門に向かって、右側に風神左側に雷神。門の中央には、重さ約700Kgの提灯が吊りさげられているんだよ。皆は200gぐらいかな？
松下幸之助が病気だったころに浅草寺に拝んだ。そして、治ったためそのお礼として門及び大提灯を寄進し、現在の雷門が成立したんだよ。
そして正式名は、裏に書いてある風雷神門！

“The maneki-neko, that distinctive ‘beckoning cat’ figurine beloved of Japanese shops and pachinko parlours, is believed to have originated at this shrine on the outskirts of Asakusa. Imado Jinja is a popular destination for people seeking good luck in love and marriage, on account of the fact that it enshrines a deity couple: Izanagi and his spouse, Izanami.”

今戸神社は、招き猫発祥の地？！
「”招き猫”は商売繁盛や招福への願いをこめて、よく店先や玄関などに飾られておりますが、猫は古代から神秘的な力をもつと考えられていました。
いわゆる招き猫の登場は江戸時代で、一方、人形としての招き猫はここ今戸の地で十六世紀から焼かれていた今戸焼が始まりといわれております。
伝わるところでは、江戸末期の話で、浅草に住むある老婆が、貧しさゆえに愛猫を手放したところ、夢枕にその猫が立って言いました。”自分の姿を人形にしたら必ずや福徳を授かる”と。
そこで老婆が横向きで片手を挙げた人形を作り、浅草寺の参道で売り出してみたら大評判だったとのことです。」

老舗の「駒形どぜう」さんに来ています。粋な江戸の味わいがわかるかな？わかるなっしー！わかるなのら〜！
ラッキィさんが小さい旅友さん用の椅子を用意してくださってました！ありがとうごさいます！
「駒形どぜう」の創業は1801年。徳川11代将軍、家斉公の時代です。初代越後屋助七は武蔵国（現埼玉県北葛飾郡）の出身で、18歳の時に江戸に出て奉公した後、浅草駒形にめし屋を開きました。当時から駒形は浅草寺にお参りする参詣ルートのメインストリートであり、また翌年の3月18日から浅草寺のご開帳が行われたこともあって、店は大勢のお客様で繁盛したと言います。

“It has about 300 Japanese celebrity handprints and autographs in the plate like TCL Chinese Theatre handprints in Hollywood. It was made by Taito ward office in 1979 to praise actors, actress, singers and comedian for contributing Japanese culture. ”

浅草公会堂前だよ！
水谷豊さんとボンゴくんの手はどっちが大きいかな？
私たちも歌って踊って芸を磨いているから、いつか手形がここに残るといいね！
浅草といえば「大衆芸能のスターの町」でもありました。昔は劇場が立ち並び、落語やお笑い、喜劇などが繰り広げられていた浅草が主体となって、大衆芸能の様々なジャンルから毎年選ばれ、そこに手形とサインが飾られます。まさにその光景はハリウッドのグローマンズ・チャイニーズシアター！

We’re going to learn about Tokyo’s local festivals. We love festivals and parties, too!
